Description

This Buttermilk Honey Cornbread is a sweet and moist cornbread that pairs perfectly with chili or soup.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, honey, vegetable oil, and eggs.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter cornbread, add more honey to taste.
