Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • To taste salt and pepper


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion, green bell pepper, celery, and garlic, and sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and Cajun seasoning, and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the shrimp and cook until they are pink and cooked through.
  6. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper as needed.
  7. Serve hot over rice or with crusty bread.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or more Cajun seasoning.
