Description
Half Moon Cookies, also known as Black & White Cookies, are deliciously soft and cake-like treats topped with half chocolate and half vanilla fondant.

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients and buttermilk, alternating until smooth.
- Drop tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes.
- Let cookies cool, then frost one half with chocolate fondant and the other half with vanilla fondant.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Feel free to adjust the frosting for a more chocolate or vanilla flavor.
