- 1 loaf bread, cubed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 apple, cored and chopped
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery, cooking until softened.
- Add the chopped apple and herbs to the skillet, cooking for a few more minutes until fragrant.
- In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes with the sautéed mixture, and pour in the broth. Mix until combined.
- Transfer the stuffing to a baking dish and cover with foil.
- Bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
