Description

These make-ahead latkes are perfect for a stress-free Hanukkah celebration.


Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)


Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes and onion.
  2. Place the grated potatoes and onion in a clean towel and wring out excess moisture.
  3. In a bowl, combine the grated potatoes, onion, egg, flour, salt, and pepper.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Form the mixture into patties and place them in the skillet.
  6. Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  7. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve warm or make ahead and reheat in the oven.
