Description

Spicy and sweet, roasted kelewele is a delicious Ghanaian snack made from ripe plantains and fragrant spices.


Ingredients

  • 4 ripe plantains
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel and cut the plantains into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine plantains, cayenne pepper, ginger powder, garlic powder, salt, and vegetable oil.
  4. Toss to coat the plantains evenly.
  5. Spread the coated plantains on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
