Description
Classic Toll House chocolate chip cookies that are soft, chewy, and full of chocolate flavor.
Ingredients

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, combine flour and baking soda; set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until creamy.
- Add in the vanilla and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually blend in the flour mixture.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
- Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
