Description

Classic Toll House chocolate chip cookies that are soft, chewy, and full of chocolate flavor.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until creamy.
  4. Add in the vanilla and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually blend in the flour mixture.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  7. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

  • For chewier cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
